Course Description:
This intensive one-day course is designed to enhance your dental prophylaxis and preventive techniques. This comprehensive program covers the essentials of coronal polishing, providing the proper educational requirements as stated by Illinois law for coronal polishing. This course includes 4 hours of didactic study in coronal polishing and pit and fissure sealants, including a written exam, followed by 2 hours of clinical instruction and clinical evaluation.
Each participant must agree to act as a patient for coronal polishing. In addition, each participant must follow the OSHA guidelines for infection control and use of clinical Personal Protective Equipment by wearing gloves, a mask, eyewear and clinic gown or scrubs).
Certification: Participants will receive a certificate of completion upon successful completion of the course.

Requirements
A dental assistant must be at least 18 years old and have 1000 hours of clinical dental assisting experience, graduate from a dental assistant program accredited by the CODA, or be a currently certified dental assistant designated by DANB. Upon successful completion of the clinical and written exam at the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate to perform the approved procedure.
Please wear appropriate attire (scrubs and close-toed shoes), bring safety glasses, a government-issued photo ID, and a signed affidavit if applicable. Gloves and masks will be provided.
